DIOM is born from a deep commitment to preserving and expanding the scope of Senegalese craftsmanship. As the natural extension of Aïssa Dione Tissus, it brings together decades of research, practice, and transmission of local knowledge—honoring traditions while boldly pushing them forward.

At the heart of both DIOM and Aïssa Dione lies a mission: to protect endangered know-how, uplift artisans, and prove that excellence can be achieved with what exists here.

By placing value on local materials and intergenerational techniques, the company not only sustains existing crafts but also adapts them to contemporary design and production standards. This approach has allowed us to reimagine traditional practices as drivers of economic growth, cultural expression, and international relevance.

DIOM builds on this heritage to offer an integrated and sustainable design ecosystem—where weaving, woodwork, metalwork, embroidery, and more converge to serve a new kind of production: rooted, refined, and radically local.

Contemporary Design Meets Global Luxury

The company has adhered to this philosophy: combining the technical skills of Senegalese technicians with traditional know-how, bringing them together within a manufacturing company.

For Senegalese consumption to grow, the offerings must be of high quality. Therefore, it is necessary to reorient technical training accordingly. We have advanced this project by organizing Master Classes in furniture making with prestigious institutions such as the École Boulle and the French National Furniture. This led to the creation of a project to establish a training institute for Trades, Arts and Design.

With a unique philosophy that promotes the implementation of Made in Senegal through the union of traditional craftsmanship and industry, we are firmly committed to the local transformation of raw materials as a source of economic development. We advocate for a “soft” industry that prioritizes quality over quantity.

A Living Network of Craftsmanship

The company operates in a modern way by creating a network of know-how that includes the following activities: mechanical weaving, carpentry, upholstery, tailoring (objects/interior accessories, home linens), wood carving, marquetry, and lighting.
